Apple number one computer sales .. if you count the iPad

Canalys figures for the fourth quarter of 2011 are Apple's number one PC vendor with 17% market share to HP and Lenovo. But three-quarters of its performance are due to the iPad, statistics including Internet tablets as well as laptops and desktops.

A couple of weeks ago the institute Gartner released its figures on the world market for computers in 2011: the top of the fourth quarter with 16% of the market, HP was sacred world number 1 of the year with 17.2% market share, to Lenovo(13%) and Dell (12.1%).

Today Canalys, which published its statistics for the fourth quarter of 2011, is also global. And surprise: number one for the last three months is 17% of the market but it is not HP but Apple. Canalys has indeed built in his accounts the Internet Tablets, which had not Gartner.

Having passed 15 million iPad during the period o fourth quarter 2011, more than 5 million Macs, Apple and this list ends up HP, Lenovo, Dell and Acer. Canalys has not yet delivered its statistics for 2011 but the entire last forecast in November Apple has been already placed on the top step of the podium.

Note that with the tablets, the market for "PC" was up 16% last year. If they are excluded, it declined 0.4%. The debate is probably just beginning.
