| Installing Computer Batteries |
To isolate the problem with your battery research its different elements here:
First use of a battery:
All batteries are shipped discharged. This means that you must charge the battery to obtain optimum performance and maximum lifetime. Simply insert the battery into your laptop and let it load up without interruption. Once this is done, it is good to drain the battery computer until there are only 10% load and reload continuously.
Repeat the process of 3 to 5 times in order to optimize the battery.
Frequent difficulties at first use:
Battery not recognized:
Some laptops may take time to recognize a new battery and you may need to set up the new battery via the BIOS Set-up.
You can also try to set it in Control Panel (devices) or via the Windows Start menu.
Generic PC battery not compatible:
Some laptops only accept original batteries (supplied by the manufacturer of the laptop). In this case, from the start appears a message like "incompatible battery". Those computers that do not accept the compatible batteries are programmed in such a way as to detect only batteries programmed by the manufacturer to be recognized by the computer.
Battery not charging:
During the first charging of the battery the computer may indicate that charging is complete in just 10 or 15 minutes and but your computer will not have power for very long. Also, sometimes a new battery will suddenly refuse to be charged. This can happen several times during the initial charge, but it's perfectly normal. Remove and reinsert the battery and let it load up again. This should solve the problem. Do not hesitate to contact a professional.
Compatibility with your laptop:
The battery of the PC may be incompatible with your computer. Verify:
- Model and manufacturer of your laptop
- Voltage (V)
- Current rating (mAh)
- Manufacturer reference
The last three features are located on the battery
These are:
High capacity battery:
A high capacity battery has much more autonomy than the standard battery
(Eg 6600 mAh).
However, it is more heavy and bulky.
Deep discharge of the battery (full):
Deep discharge away at the internal chemistry of a battery: Always try to recharge a battery li-ion (lithium ion) before turning off the computer (ie before discharge). By recharging more often a li-ion battery before it is deeply discharged, its lifetime increases. Before recharging never wait for a Li-ion battery is empty.
Inaccurate measuring the residual energy:
The battery icon indicates the still available percentage of energy. However, sometimes the indication is wrong. This is because of a battery calibration. The calibration of the measurement system for playing on the computer, the residual energy of the battery is done once in the following way: fully charge the battery, use the computer until it is only 10% load, reload continuously. Measuring the residual energy will be more accurate. This calibration procedure should be performed monthly. |
